Nature

In the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad you will encounter nature in its purest form.

Wildly romantic landscapes, with an element of melancholy are typical for this area of former north-east Prussia, separated by the river Memel from Lithuania.

What was once known as the “Granary of the German Reich” is today increasingly neglected and unkempt.

But this makes the landscape even more striking.

The cyclist gets the impression that wind and weather have re-conquered this land.

The narrow 80 kilometre-long Curonian Spit encloses a large natural lagoon.

For kilometre on kilometre there are giant dunes, forests and glowing sandy beaches, so lonesome that there is not escaping the feeling that you are the first person ever to have been there.
