Nature

Considering that the name “Poland” derives from the word for “field”, it may come as a surprise to some visitors that northern Poland is quite hilly in places.

But it is precisely these glacial deposits that give this landscape a special flair. Nature reserves and natural parks such as the Kashubian Lakeland and Wysoczyzna Elbląska owe their striking charm to the hills.

The large areas of the north-east that are so characteristic for Poland are sometimes called Europe’s “green lungs”.

It contains Poland’s largest lake district, the Mazurian Lake Plateau. You have the opportunity here to explore over 3000 lakes, separated by moors and swampland and connected by rivers, streams and canals.

Most of the route follows Polish country roads lined by fruit-bearing trees, which makes the time between May and June especially attractive.
